  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Sneezing bunny

New Kit
On friday we acquired a new addition to our family, a little baby doe, aged approx 8 weeks. She is ful of energy and eats and drinks plenty. But last night (sunday) she developed a bit of a sneeze. I have done a bit of research and it looks like it is allergies (her front feet are fine, her eyes are not watery, and her nose, although slightly wet, is not discharging anything white/yellow).

If it is allergies how important is it to find the cause and protect her from it? Can anyone suggest how best to find out what has caused the allergy? And if anyone thinks it could be something else please let me know.

Many thanks for any help.

The first suspect would be anything dusty like sawdust or cheap hay. Anything like that around?

try changing her bedding over...i would suggest carefresh, hay in a rack and megazorb for litter tray also could try using the shredded paper bedding in hutch as thats a nice cosy typev thing... anything dusty try and remove if poss.

Yes she is in doors. Am going to chnage her hay and sawdust to see if that helps her at all.

Thanks guys.
