Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Help - rabbit eaten plastic (I think) U/D been to vets

Hi

My bunny, Miffy, got hold of a plastic spatula yesterday and chewed it to pieces. I'm pretty worried that she's eaten some of it. Just been to clean her out and she seems very subdued and won't eat - not even her banana chips which are her favourite.

Am very worried and wondering whether to ring emergency vet - is this the right thing to do?

Help!

I would get in touch with vets also hun if ya bunny not touching any food if she/he normally does sorry i cant help anymore :(

Get her to the vets asap..

A rabbit i had ate some plastic from the corner of a plastic carrier and died the day after (we didnt know she had eaten anything until afterwards as the carrier was supposed to be in a place she couldnt reach)...
She went off her food and has mucas in her poo...

Dont want to scare you but i would get her seen...

Well, I rushed her down to the vets (after having a hysterical breakdown on the phone to hubby - get a lil bit over emotional about my pets   )

The vet gave her two injections - rit...something (can't remember the name) as an anti-inflammatory and metachlopromide to stimulate her gut.

Her temp was fine and her gut felt soft... the plastic was soft so the vet thinks she'll be ok.

She started eating again as soon as I got her home (typical) so am just keeping an eye on her to check she is pooing. If not I have to take her back in. She's a lot brighter now than she was when I first posted, and she's even had her banana chips - so she must be feeling ok.

Fingers crossed she'll be ok :)

I am glad she is eating and seems herself again...:D

I can understand the hysterical phone conversation as well ;)
