  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Panacur Rabbit at Pets at Home?

SarahP

Wise Old Thumper
... or did I dream it? I've got a feeling I read on here that they are selling it now. Otherwise I'll buy some online. I've got plenty of the 10% Panacur liquid, but it's foul stuff - Dusty hates it!

yes they do have it,it's kept in a cabinet and they ask you allsorts of questions if you want to purchase it,hth

I got some Panacur from P@H, it was £5.99. They just make sure you know what you're doing, ask how much your bun weighs so you're sure how much to give.

you can ring up and do it over the phone and it will be ready go when you get there.

The jury is out on that one. In terms of E Cuniculi, no-one really knows whether regular short courses (9 days) of Panacur can help to control levels of E Cuniculi spores, preventing an active case. For active cases of EC, a 6 week course is needed.

If you search on here you'll find loads of threads on the subject - it'll frazzle your brain though!:lol:

I've got some unopened panacur rabbit you can have if you want Sarah. If you remind me of your address I can stick it in the post in the morning so you should get it Monday, or you can pop round and get it if you prefer!

That's right. We do have to ask all kinds of questions. It was part of the AMTRA training.

The kinds of questions you'll be asked are:-

Is for your own rabbit?
General questions about the rabbit, general health etc
If you know how to use it and are okay to administer it.
Name, address and postcode.

I don't see an issue with being asked those questions.

no i don't see an issue with it either,i purchased some last week from there and the assistant was really helpfull

I don't have an issue with it - it's just that Dusty's situation is complicated and a long story, so I really can't be bothered to try to explain it to a sales assistant if I can avoid it.

It won't be a sales assistant, it will be a member of management, but if you know what you want and what you want it for then you only have to ask for it. You don't need to go in to great detail. If it's preventative or treatment then that's fine.

A lot of the time, people say to me that they've had it from the vet, know how to use it and had no issue with it in the past.

To me that tells me that they're competent and know what they're doing.

Saves me a lot of verbal spiel :)
