im not sure if this is in the right place but, Im scared to leave tila outside overnight, but my dad told me she cant stay in the house because we always wake up to bedding everywhere. If i leave her outside, can anything happen?! will any animals come near her? I just dont want anything to happen! Im a very nervous person! please help!

what sort of outside accomodation do you have for your rabbit?

I'm afraid yes, foxes may well visit your garden. You will have to make sure you have a very secure hutch outside.

What sort of hutch does your bunny normally have - we can make suggestions for making it secure for you.

The basic thing to do is make sure that the front of your hutch has weldmesh fixedwith U shaped nails in the front and that all the doors have proper bolts and not just turn buttons.

If your bunny uses a run, then it should be on hardstanding if you are allowing constant access to make sure that nothing can dig in and your bunny can't dig out. Also the lid needs to be strong enough to ensure nothing can jump on top and get in, with secure fixings to make sure that the lid can't be moved off.

I use hasp and staples with clip hooks through them.

although i think its better to keep rabbits in at night in the winter. Keeping them outdoors at night in the summer months is fine providing the cage is secure, off the ground and water proof.

right now she has a guine pig cage, and its not off the ground... so I take it I should keep her in until I get my hutch? which will be soon!

the hutch needs to be big enough for her to stretch out and have secure latches to stop animals getting in, and off the ground

i keep one of mine outside at night she has a cover but if its warm i leave it slightly uncovered .

Hi Keryn

When you say you have a guinea pig cage, do you mean the ones with a plastic bottom and the open cagey bit on top? If so I really think it is best that you bring your rabbit inside over night, as this type of cage is very unsafe, and has no protection against predators (foxes/cats) and it's very scarey for your bunny too. If your dad doesn't allow you to bring it in the house, do you have a shed or outhouse you can keep it in until you get your proper hutch; I presume that won't be for long. :)

What happens to the rabbit if it rains?

The cage opens from the side. But she has a roof over her head, so during the day if it rains, shes not getting wet. And, also, im very paranoid, and i think she will push the door open and get out, or my dog maybe, so i have 3 paper clips locking the door on! lmao! weird, i know. Me and my mom talked, and we have a barn, so we will keep her in there. Behind a closed door. Or, i will just put her in the house when he goes to sleep, then get up early and put her back out, :rabbit2:

but right now I am talking to a girl who will sell me hers because she no longer has her bun. Hopefully, i get the hutch soon.

Does the new hutch have suitable locks? They should be at least the bolt type locks so that foxes can't open them. Ideally you would use padlocks as there have been stories of peoples hutches being messed with on these forums :(

yes, the locks are really good. and for the top, to be safe, my mom told me put something ontop just incase. seeing as the roof opens up.
