Hey guys. I just need some help.
I let my dogs out about a half an hour ago, and then went upstairs to clean out my bun Oliver. When I came back down, I saw something bloody in my dog Cassie's mouth. My first thought was that it was my other bun Blaise (who is living in a hutch outside), but when I got closer I found out that it was a baby, baby wild bunny (just getting fur, eyes still closed). Two of them were killed (there is blood everywhere ), but I found a hole in the ground where there are two or more babies still alive.
I just don't know what to do with myself right now. Should I just remove the dead babies and cover up the hole with the others? I'm just thinking that there is no way in hell that they are going to survive...with my dogs in the yard, and will the mommy bun come back once she smells the blood?
Any help is appreciated. I had a situation where I rescued baby buns in the past, and none of them survived. I don't want to take these babies out of their natural habitat if it is not necessary.
Thanks guys. I'm in freak-out mode right now and the first place I thought of was here.
Lots of love,
Leah
