Wild bun emergency...

Hey guys. I just need some help.
I let my dogs out about a half an hour ago, and then went upstairs to clean out my bun Oliver. When I came back down, I saw something bloody in my dog Cassie's mouth. My first thought was that it was my other bun Blaise (who is living in a hutch outside), but when I got closer I found out that it was a baby, baby wild bunny (just getting fur, eyes still closed). Two of them were killed (there is blood everywhere :cry::cry:), but I found a hole in the ground where there are two or more babies still alive.
I just don't know what to do with myself right now. Should I just remove the dead babies and cover up the hole with the others? I'm just thinking that there is no way in hell that they are going to survive...with my dogs in the yard, and will the mommy bun come back once she smells the blood?
Any help is appreciated. I had a situation where I rescued baby buns in the past, and none of them survived. I don't want to take these babies out of their natural habitat if it is not necessary.
Thanks guys. I'm in freak-out mode right now and the first place I thought of was here.

Lots of love,
Leah

I imagine they are cottontails so nest on the surface not like our wildbuns in the UK. they are meant to be hard to rear so need to go to a specialist cottontail rehabber. I'd give them a call and ask for advice. If the nests been disturbed and its an area your dogs access then it might be best to take them to a rehabber.

If you search google for cottontail rehabber and your area you might find one or try phoning your local humane society/vet they may have local contacts that can help.

Ahhh thanks Tams. I'm looking online right now. I'm just so worried :(
And I can't stand to go pick up the babies who didn't make it. I almost got sick earlier just looking at them
Again, thank you. Your a lifesaver ;)

Oh dear

I really dont know whats best to do :? Obviously remove the dead kits, but if you put the others back and Mum does not return they'll slowly starve to death  Then again if you attempt to hand rear them they are unlikely to survive.

On balance I think I would put them back and try to secure the area so as the dogs cant get to them again and hope that Mum does return

:?

It just makes me so mad that these wild buns continue to nest in our yard. Every year its the same thing. We've always got two or more dogs...and its just not safe.
The mum literally built her nest in the center of our yard. Our grass is short, and they are buried maybe six inches underground :?
I'm calling around right now....
Poor babies

Ok , people aren,t going to like me saying this but it might be best to put a trap outside , a humane one of cause that doesn't kill the bun , and you could hand the mum in with the babys to the a wildlife place or a rehab centre like tamsin suggested, good luck :)

I called a bunch of wildlife rehab centers...but haven't got a call back. I've been keeping a close watch on the dogs outside, and they've been good so far.
I removed the dead baby buns, covered up the live babies just as they were, and have left them alone since. I just hope momma bun comes back. Keep fingers crossed. xx
