  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

i feel like hitting my head against a brick wall at the moment with my vets:cry: does anyone know of a vet in east sussex that is really clued up on bunnies:cry:

Coastway vets is on there and thats the one I normally go and they are very good. I had a problem recently with one vet and abscesses but normally he is very good. I then saw a different vet at the same practise and we are finally getting it sorted.

I wouldn't go to Meridian vets in Peacehaven. I went there once and was told that I shouldn't feed pellets and hay and that I should walk along the coast each day and pick some wild grasses and feed that everyday instead (like anyone ever has time to do that!) They also specified it doesn't matter which ones I pick as they will sort out the poisonous ones themselves!

There seems to be a few in Eastbourne there though.

i wonder

I cant help with a vet but reading the stuff that they come out with how did they pass. Mine old one said not to worry about my winnie as he would be sick to get rid of nasty if he wasnt feeling well. Yeah right and I had to pay for the pleasure of his diagnosis. really

I like Kit, who practices at Highcroft Vets in Hailsham, and their sister practice in Polegate. I personally think she is the best rabbit vet at the two practices.
