  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Wetness under nose - advice?

Hiya

My new rescue Bobby is in a large hutch outside but comes in the house twice a day for a couple of hours at a time for exercise and bonding sessions with his soon-to-be girlie. He is full of energy and life and runs himself into the ground with his binkies and 'skitzies' as we call them. However, when i picked him up this morning after his morning session insode to put him back in his hutch, i noticed a little wetness under his nose. Is this something I should take him to the vets for? could it be a side effect from the myzi jab he had on tuesday?
Any advice would be good cos obviously if he needs the vets i will take him asap.

Thanks

Lisa and the (now many) buns xx

Also, (i dont know if this could be linked) he appears to be quite a heavy/fast breather? Could this be something to do with it?

It's sounding a bit like a respiratory infection.

If it were my bunny I'd be getting him checked out ASAP, antibiotics could sort it out.

My bunny Rudy had a wet nose and "rattly sound" in his lungs earlier this week and he was put on baytril.

I too would get him checked out to be on the safe side. Hopefully it is nothing or something that anti biotics will help.
