I need a favour - RWF members.

Bun Bun

Warren Scout
I need a huge favour, I need to find another rabbit friendly vet in my area. I cannot log into the members section of the RWF site to have a look. I have tried the forgotton password button several times over the last 2 days and it does not send me a new password. I tried calling but there was no answer (tried 3 times yesterday)

Could someone please log in for me and have a look for some rabbit friendly vets in East Sussex, I am based between Brighton and Eastbourne. Or if you are based near me and can recommend one.

My rabbit has 2 abscesses, one on is paw and one near his elbow and I am not happy with what my current vet has said and also what he told me is not working. So I want to get a second opinion.

Thanks

This was the reference post you wanted - same website as above?

Hey guys,

I noticed that quite a few people have been looking for vets in their area. The Royal College of Vet. Surgeons has set up a part of their website to help people look for vets. You can specify that you're looking for someone who does small and/or exotic species, which is what rabbits are classed as.

The link is:

Hope this helps

Nicky

I think Bun Bun is after the list of named vets (not just the practices) who have actually been recommended by people as being good with rabbits, rather than just a list of small animal vets in the area.

I seem to recall that this isn't on the website, the member login doesn't take you to any more info than you can see without it, I think it's just a feature of the new website they got, but it doesn't do anything. I think you have to ring the hotline for that info, or email hq@rabbitwelfare.co.uk (something like that anyway, it'll be on the web), if you don't know your membership number then give them your address when you email/ring and they can look it up. I've always had replies within a day or two whenever I've emailed. Hope you find someone!

What are the two letters of the postcode area(s) you need searching for? I'm guessing 'BN' but any others? I've got my membership number handy.
Hopefully someone on RU will be able to recommend a good vet, I always prefer a personal recommendation, but if the search brings up the same name that would be great.

I'm a member and I haven't even got a user name and password, which upsets me quite a lot!

You could try searching on here http://www.rcvs.org.uk/ for another small animal specialist in your area.

The vet list mentioned above is a general vet list supplied by the Royal college of vetinary Surgeons, not a list of surgeries which are recommended by specific people. There are a number of vets on there whom I have used in the past but would not return with any animals to for a multiple of reasons.

For this reason I would suggest finding personal recommendations of a person who works at a surgery rather than looking for a surgery. I hope that makes sence.

March Hare may be able to recommend someone as she is in that neck of the woods and may know someone good. With her Dutchie village residents to cater for,she probably has a lovely vet.:D

Put up a thread asking people in the area where you are to reply with recommendations of vets they have used there. Best way in my opinion ;) Or if there is a rabbit rescue near to you phone them and ask them who they use. I use the same vet as a rescue near me and they are brilliant :D

I don't think anyone has, I think it's just a feature of the software they bought but which isn't used. The forum has usernames and passwords, but when they moved the whole site, they all got reset so if you were on the forum but can't get onto it now you need to drop an email to the RWA helpline and they will sort it out for you (or you might be able to re-register yourself anyway).
