  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Snuffles

New Kit
My rabbit has a non-contagious form of snuffles without discharge or distress and has had bouts of sneezing for over a year without any treatment (on veterinary advice). How worried should I be? Will this shorten his life and make him more susceptable to other illnesses? If anyone can give me advice or share their own experiences, I would be very grateful as he is such a precious little chap.

A few years back my bun tilly had 3 babies. Basil, Pipkin and Bonnie.
Around 8 weeks old my Pipkin got snuffles, the vet gave him some medicine and after about a week he was so ill he had to be pts :cry: he was just a baby.. a few days later Bonnie was pts too, she had muscle problems.

I don't really know anything about snuffle, sorry!
Maybe you could do some research online?

snuffles

He has been seen by the vet on a number of occasions and they tell me there is no infection and not to worry unless there is discharge or he seems distressed. A funny thing is that my vet says snuffles covers so many things and not all serious. Many people consider it highly contagious and a death sentence but Harvey began sneezing 18 months ago and his companion has not developed the problem at all.
