Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Please Help! Possible skin condition/problem?

Noah's Mummy

Young Bun
I have just noticed a little patch on my mini lop, it looks as though new fur is coming through. There is a blue tinge to his skin underneath this new fur and a small piece of flaky skin came away when I brushed over it. My bun isn't flinching and doesn't seem at all bothered by me looking at it. Is there a problem or is it just new fur coming through? I'm a little worried! Thank you

This sounds just like something i seen on my kermits back yesterday....im thinking its new fur coming through.

Kermit is going to see a Rabbit specialist for his head tilt condition tomorrow im going to ask him about it when im there, ill post my findings!!!!

Jeez, we all worry so much about our wee buns!:love:

I came across this with my Penny 'Pocket'. I put it down to Sally (her chum) maybe over-grooming and chewing her fur or something? It was a 50p patch with fur coming through. It has grown back and since putting all four buns together I haven't come across it again.

It didn't bother her one bit and I could touch it and groom it and everything! Very strange!

Just been to the vets and ive been told that the patch on kermit is just new hair....he said that he might have been overgrooming and pulled it out too much, so new stuff has come in.

Hopefully your bun will just be the same

I too have heard that this could be 'over-grooming.' It does look as though it is new fur coming through as it's quite wiry, not as soft as the rest of the fur. I`ll keep you posted!
