hair loss

New Kit
Hi,
worried about my bunboys hair loss. He has bin shedding a bit of hair for a couple of weeks and i was thinking he was moulting. i have bin brushing him to keep him tidy, but the last day or so his hair is comin out in hand fulls. had him in last night for a while and my carpet is covered in bunny fluff. his fur is now patchy, with almost bald patches, not to the bare skin but very short hair.
I think he is a rex. my beautiful bun has turned in to a scruffy tramp. Is this normal moulting or is there something wrong.

It may well be a very busy moult, but things like mites can cause hair loss so if it were me I'd pop him to the vets just to be sure. :)

Can you see any white flecks in his fur? like flakes of skin? Does the skin under the fur look healthy or is it red/sore looking?
One of mine has moulted really heavily before and the new fur hasnt been as long at first.. however another time he lost alot of fur and had red skin underneath that was all flakey. The flakey skin is a sign of mites and the vets can give them an injection or you can use drops prescribed by vets to get rid of them ;)

vet just in case

Thanx for the help. Going to take him to the vet tomorrow, to get it checked out just in case. Think it might be moult as his skin looks healthy (not red or sore) and he doesnt seem to be itching. On a steep learning curve with buns and just scary when all his fur starts falling out.
Thanx again x
