Less Food, more caecotrophs!

I dont get it.

I have been taking turns in cutting back pellets and veg from sammys meals so I can find out which one is causing him to make extra caecotrophs but it aint working.
I've only been doing this for a few days but the problem isnt getting better, I cant bring myself to only give him hay.
He gets two meals a day. Its always in the afternoon time that he produces extra caecotrophs

Any suggestions?

How much pellets and vegetables is he getting in total?

Hmmmm - interesting. In my experience, it's always the pellets that cause extra caecotrophs. Bun full of pellets = a full and contented bun who doesn't feel the need to eat his own poo! Try cutting the pellets right back - how much do you give now?

Mine only have a maximum of one of those medicine measuring cups of Science Selective a day (you know - the little cup that comes with Benylin or Night Nurse and measures about 25ml of fluid). I'd estimate about 20 pellets each per day (10 morning, 10 evening). The rest of their diet is hay and veggies. If I give them too many veggies though, their poos get very small as they're full up with veggies and don't eat enough hay/fibre.
