Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

panacur question?!

hi..we have had buns for 7 years now and have only come across this panacur wormer recently..
stupid question but?!...is one syringe full enough for one medium size bun ?ie a dutch?
how many would i need for my french lop? 2?
i know its based on weight, 2.5 kg but it goes on about graduations on the syringe.so do you think i would need 4 , for my 2 medium size buns and one french lop? roughly how many for 3 guineas?
lots of questions! but i dont want to buy too many or not enough!
we worm our cats every 3 months as well so that we dont have anything nasty coming from them and crossing to the buns and guineas..but they all groom each other and its better to be safe than sorry!
thanks, kellie and the local mad house!

One tube of panacur contains 18 graduations....1 graduation per 2.5kg....so one tube should do two medium sized rabbits for the 9day course.

Dont know about guineas, sorry

I've just reacently started using Panacur too, and I really like the syringes. They are really easy to use. My bunnies objected a wee bit for the first couple of days, but the seemed to enjoy it after that, must be dandelion flavoured or something  I just feel that if I'm giving the it through the syringe I can be sure they're getting it all. I'm always a bit wary about worming, our vets recently had a seminar about horse wormers and how parasites can build up tolerances to them if they are not given in the correct doses. I presume that could be the case for any animal?
