My OH was picking up a genetics book at a book sale this morning and it fell open on a page with a picture of a Himilayan.
Turns out that they developed their darker extremities because of their environment. With their noses, feet and ears all having darker fur, it encourages the heat from the sun to warm those parts of the body more than those with lighter fur. Good job if you live high in the Himilayas I suppose.
