tips for bonding please!!!

i have an 8 month old neutered female and i recently got a neutered male rabbit from a local rescue, I asked my vet how i should go about introducing the rabbits and she said it would be fine to try straight away! after spending the day together in their runs we tried to introduce them and they started fighting, they are currently living in seperate hutches opposite each other so they can get used to each other. even though they have fought - could they still become friends? I also have an elderly dwarf rabbit who lost his companion last week, is he too old to bond with a new rabbit - he seems very withdrawn, does anyone know of any rescue centres that let you take your rabbit with you to see new rabbits? i live in bedfordshire. thanks :bunny:

Most good rescues will allow you to take your rabbit with you to see who they get they get on with. There will be some humping and fur pulling they have to sort out who's top bun.

You do need to think about personalities too, you dont want a fiesty young bun with an old laid back one for instance because they will get bullied.
