Ants! Help required

We put Mr Fatrat out in the garden for his usual run, but have just spotted some ants in his cage now he's back indoors. It looks as though they came in on his food - he has a kong type thing.

We know about flystrike - can ants pose such a threat or do you think he will be OK? We are thinking that we should change his bed and throw the food away but need some advice!

Thanks

ants do bite, so I'd get them out of the house, but they can't seriously hurt him unless he's allergic to them or maybe if one crawled up his nose and bit him inside it so it swelled up.

the only reason flies are so dangerous (and it's just the big bluebottles you need worry about) is because they target animals as food for their maggots, which hatch from eggs laid on the rabbit. Ants live in an anthill colony and all the eggs are laid there - they were probably taking food back to the colony when they got whisked indoors suddenly :)
