Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Spaying Dora after weaning her kits

Hi,

Dora's babies will be 8 weeks this weekend. I am seperating them from Dora as she keeps manically trying to hump them .
I will keep them together until they go to their new homes (Barley to Maizy and Murphy and Smartie to someone privately)

I would like to get Dora spayed asap, how long do I have to wait? Her behaviour is really extreme and I feel really sorry for her she seems so tormented. She won't calm down and has taken to trying to eat the wire on her pen

As the kits have been with her up until now I assume she will be producing milk still and I don't know how long this will continue for?

Thanks,

Lucy x

I would leave it a week or so after seperating her from the babies to insure she has stopped lactating. I know my Vet does not like to spay a lactating Doe or one right in the middle of a pseudopregnancy

Well done with finding homes for the babies :D
