The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Help! Rabbit not eating

We have had Oliver for just over 3 years and we were told he was 5 when we adopted him.

For the past couple of years he has had frequent problems with his teeth not wearing down and had several deburring sessions at the vets.

He went through a stage of this happening every month but this calmed down alittle.

He had his last dental about 3 weeks ago and still has not started to eat properly. He is on metacam daily and we are syringe feeding him. The vet said yesterday that his teeth as not been ground down in the normal manner (the right and left side usually are missor images of each other but in this case both sides angle the teeth in the same direction) and that this would imply a problem with is jaw. He was unsure what treatment to recommend although he did administer an extra strong pain killer to see if that made any different (which it did not).

Has anyone got any ideas and what I could try / suggest to the vet? I did wonder if the issue could have been caused by the last vet to debur his teeth.

I have left Oliver with some water soaked SS to see if that entices him (he has never had SS before).

I am so worried I will try anything.

Have you tried another vet for a second opinion (either at a different surgery or within your own)? Also, have you got any pain killer to administer at home? One of my rabbits has been treated with Metacam for a recurring foot problem and I alwyas have a bottle at home.

Other then that, I haven't really got much experience with severe dental buns, so I can only pass on lots of vibes.

aww poor Oliver ...

dont know what to suggest realy other than maybe feed grass , dandlions etc ...i sometimes find this gets a bit of interest if they dont have much appetite . :?

going through a similar thing with nemo at the mo although not so severe as he is eating himself ...just not as he should be .

hope he improves

Thanks for yur replies.

I hope Nemo picks up soon too.

I have caught him eating a couple of pieces of soaked SS but no major break through. I also think his mate is eating it just to confuse the issue. We seperate them at night to keep an eye on Oliver.
