Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Help Unexpected Baby Bunny's Arrived Sunday

New Kit
Hi my rabbit had 6 babies on Sunday. She has 5 left and they seem to be ok but I don't know when to remove them from mum, handle them etc. can anyone advise?? thanks

dont touch them unless you have to.... rub hands on nest to keep the smell of mum when you handle them. ensure dad is no where near....make sure that they dont leave mum for new homes before 8weeks. i dont know much about this but more people will be along to help am sure

People have different views on baby bunnies a bunny i took in had 4 babies after being with me for a couple of weeks she had them on monday night/tuesday morning and i started handling them wednesday and they are now 12 weeks old and all healthy and strong some people say not to handle them till they come out the nest and others say to handle them straight away

I would say do not touch them until at least 2-3 weeks old, IF you have to check, wear gloves and rub them in mummys bedding and on her to remove your scent if there are any dead babies then remove them, Dont worry if you do not see her feeding them as rabbits generally only feed their young once a day and do not spend any other time in the nest. If you feel they are not being fed, look at their bellies, if they are being fed they will be like little pot bellies, if not they will be sunken and wrinkly.
