I'm SO Happy, New 'Hutch' *Pics*

*Spider*

Wise Old Thumper
My rabbit and guinea have been living in a tiny hutch since day one.
They slept in there at night and roamed the garden everyday, but staying in if whether wasnt good.
My dog Spider (avatar) when he was a puppy we bought him a massive kennel, but because we loved him so much and he was so good it just lay there and so i asked me dad if i could put them in there. He said yes, and today something has finally been done about it :D

The whole of it. Painted black to suit surroundings.

The board has been put up to stop them getting out to the run as my dad is putting boards at the bottom and i want them to get used to the inside first

:D Yay, im so glad. It's so big, i listening to what you're saying about the diffuculties between their socialising.. shall i get a rescue guinea and rabbit ?

Maybe i'll pop to my local rescue and ask for their advise. All 4 of them arrgh  oh no :p

Im just really concerned about them socialising with eachother.. would you recommend 2 new additions?

Does the rescue let you house rabbits and pigs together? :?

To be honest I dont think any rescues would rehome pigs and rabbits together, theres too many risks.

Do you mean adding a new rabbit and guinea pig to make a group of four? If so I'd not recommend it. If you wanted to do that you'd need to split into two species groups. The trouble is when bonding rabbits can be quite rough and introducing new animals would change the group dynamic. Whilst this pair are fine together adding more could well cause trouble.

I *think* Spider is concerned about the welfare of the her current piggie and bunny and is asking if she should get them both a partner of their own species to live with :)

I say yes, it doesn't hurt to try, so long as you have the space to house two piggies and two buns separately :)

How long have they been together? ETA: Just seen they have been together 4 years  Oh my, now I can see your concerns :( But I still think they would be better off and safter with their own kind :)

P.S Lovely hutchy, kennel, run thing!! :D

There is no reason why you cannot get them a new friend each so that the two species live apart.

you have a lovely large home for them.
