  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My house rabbit daisy has got what look like sores on the bottom of one of her front paws and one of her back paws by her nails there is no fur there just reddy pinky patches of skin, im going to book her in at the vet tomorrow but is there anything i can do or am i doing anything wrong??

look at what surfaces your bun runs round on. My rex, Barney gets these and also sore hocks from being on the carpet or rough surfaces too much (rexes are prone to it as they have thin or less tough fur on their feet or something than most rabbits). I put aloe vera gel and sudocrem on them to help them heal.

the main surface of the room that she lives in is laminate with a big rug in the middle that she likes lying full stretch on would any other surface be better for her like if i put a piece of vet bed down for her on the rug??

yes, quite a few people put vet bed and towels and blankets down - i can't coz mine wee all over them! i think Barney's are rubbed away during sprinting episodes on the carpet and also the lino lining their dog cage is a little bit rough so am going to get some cushion flooring.
