  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rainbow got spayed on tues ?

My female rabbit was spayed on tuesday all has gone well she is eating and acting quite normal .This morning I came down to feed her and she has pulled out loads of fur .How normal is it for a newly spayed rabbit to make a nest?

It will take a while for her hormones to subside. Where did she pull the fur from? Have you checked her wound? If it looks nice and dry and healing well then I wouldn't worry :)

I think she pulled it out of her dewlapp?(big fluffy bit under her neck) I am not sure if that is what u call it . She seems fine she has her 10 week old baby in with her .I took her out yesterday to the vet and she was given painkiller and Baytril. the vet was very pleased with her wound . So i think she will be fine.I just checked her wound and it looks fine .When will it be allright for her to go back out on to the run of grass. She hates being cooped up?

If the grass is dry and she seems happy and well in herself then I would let her have some time in the run after about 3 or 4 days after the op. Just check the wound after she's been out to make sure its clean.
