Help! New hutch, advice needed.

My little buns are currently in a 3x2ft hutch (not great I know but...) the hutch is the type that sits on top of a 3x6ft run, and there is a hole in the bottom of the hutch with a ramp so they have access to the run 24/7 - which is why the hutch size is not too bad, they are hardly ever in it!!
They also get to play in the whole garden a lot. :)

Anyway...

I just got a new one. A 4x2ft hutch, with a new run the same size as the old one, but more sturdy. Problem is, it's a seperate hutch on legs.
Has anyone got any ideas of how to connect the two together like the old one please? I don't like the idea of them being shut away at all.
I've got some ideas but I'm not sure if they'll work.
The space I've got is fairly limited so it has to really be on top or right next to the run.

It can be quite tricky can't it. I attached mine to the back of my hutch, but the principles are the same.

If it doesn't have a hole already then you need to be careful where you cut it, drill through a hole and then use a jigsaw to make it bigger is the usual approach. You can then attach battons of wood around the hole to reinforce it.

Around the run itself you will probably have to attach more pieces of wood to make sure it lines up. Drill holes through the wood and then screw in a wood screw to join the pieces together. Nailing on galvanised wire to cover the holes.

Here are some photos of mine, incase you need ideas.

Some good ideas there, thanks :) I'll try and borrow a jigsaw from my friend and have a go, although I think I'll put the hutch on top to make best use of space.
