  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I've been through all the threads on here and read all the information given :)

However I've now got a few questions

With the hind leg paralysis, will they ever get the use of their legs back?

I'm guessing the paralysis isn't just confined to the hind legs?

Its looking more and more likely that Lucky has an active infection, he started out with being off colour slightly, still eating and behaving normally but just knew something wasn't right Clicky now his back legs have collapsed and his front legs are going too :?

Its heartbreaking to watch him dragging himself about and the struggling to stay upright but he's bright and eating well.

This is the same scenario that we went through with Stripes, it's like watching her all over again except we couldn't save her because we didn't know what was wrong

He's been on Panacur & Metacam since Friday and is going for blood tests tomorrow

Is there a chance he'll get the use of his legs back?

Should I now be Panacur'ing the other 10?

with e-c it's important to start a course of panacur as soon as you suspect it, rather than waiting for test results, because then the damage will be halted - it can't be reversed as far as I know - not sure if steroids might help?
