  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

hi im really worried about gumpy i managed to give his teeth a proper look at yesterday for the first time in weeks anyway, i think his top teeth are a bit too long as they do come slightly over the bottom ones, the thing is he doesnt seem to have any problems as he is eating fine and is being his usual self and he has lots of things to chew on in his hutch, some wood, lots of hay, pellets, toys, paper for him to shred, cardboard boxes, some rabbit toys, a pineapple chew which i dont think he likes, and some chew blocks however he only chews on paper stuff and when he's out all he does is chew on things ive posted before and came to the conclusion he just liked destroying the house  he's also started biting me a lot lately and not the friendly nip either  but i think this is just because he doesnt like being handled in the heat should i worry or is he fine just want to sort it out in case it gets any worse and starts hurting him

It's not unusual for the top teeth to overlap slightly as the bottom teeth have to sit in the gap between the uppers and the peg teeth.

If that is the case and they are not crooked or spleyed then you dont need to worry, for the time being anyway.
