Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rapid Breathing All The Time!

vengeful.veggie

Alpha Buck
Obviously when nervous, buns breathe much quicker and we have noticed this with Verity also, but the thing is.. It seems she breathes extremely fast, all the time.

But she flops, binkies, and shows signs of being a very relaxed and content bunny so her breathing isn't all down to nerves. Could there be an underlying problem? Or is this nothing to worry about?

She breathes so fast, you can see her entire body rapidly shaking.

hiya, what breed of bunny do you have?i would take bunny for a check up to rule out heart/circulation problems.i don't want to worry you as it could be nothing, however our beautiful boy dudley suffered with his heart due to his breeding and it is always better,if just for your own piece of mind,to have them checked over.x

She's a mini lop, although she has the exact colourings of a netherland dwarf. Black with a little brown on the sides and neck with a white under.

breathing!!

Hiya both of my bunnies tend to breathe really fast.....at first i was worried however a check up with the vet to show them fit and healthy out my mind at ease.....Even when lying down the both breathe really fast maybe its just a bunny thing :D
If it makes you feel better take them to see the vet and see what they say... x

If you are at all worried I would go see a vet. They will be able to put your mind at rest/advise you if a suspected problem is the case.

Wishing you all the best!

TP;)

Once I posted, it seems she's breathing normally.. *rolls eyes* I'm going to take her to the vet anyway though. Maybe she was just a little warm due to the weather.
