It's Bracken this time. She didn't want her dinner last night so I brought the pair of them in.... I'm going to start calling my ensuite the hospital ward
I spoke to Mark (my OH) about it which it's really nice to be able to do cos I do go into mini panic mode and he manages to be calm and logical for me

Couldn't quite put my finger on the problem, the obvious thought was stasis because she wasn't eating but it didn't feel like that. So I kept an eye on her and was syringing a watery science recovery mix into her, and by about 2.45am I noticed she'd started to tilt. She was falling over when she tried to get into the litter tray but her head was only slightly tilted. By the time I got up this morning - to phone the vet as soon as they opened she was laying in the litter tray but she was obviously leaning to the side alot more.
The vet thinks it's EC. The pair of them are now on a 28 day course of baytril and panacur and if the hiding it in food doesn't work they are soooo not going to be impressed with being picked up every day for a month!

Oh - poor baby. Hope she gets well soon. She may hate you for 28 days but they soon forget the 'Curse of Panacur' and come running to you for food again!!!!

aww hope she's well soon - it's supposed to be 6 weeks panacur though I believe, so that's going to be even more of an ordeal (if you can convince your vet in the first place) - they can give steroids to damp down the inflamation but I know steroids are risky in other ways - I think it's Jane knows about that more than me - I can't imagine what baytril is for though - more likely to give her an upset tum than do anything to the e-c organism :?

Sorry what is EC, im still learning so would like to know what this is and what signs to look out for and if there is anything to do for prevention of it.?
Thanks

Elve, I think the Baytril is incase of an Inner Ear Infection.

Tigerbabe, Have you been given any analgesic for her? I would also recommend a 6 week course of Panacur- for her AND her partner.

No just the baytril and panacur. I've got to phone the vet in a week and take her back in a fortnight so I'll have a word about the 6 week course then.

I just don't know what's best for her really :?
I can't keep as good an eye on her if she's out in the shed and I'd have a heck of a job getting hold of them both every day for their meds, but they aren't happy at all being indoors.
They don't really do people, we'd got to the point where they didn't run in a panic everytime I went into the run and I've been allowed to stroke them while they eat for a while now... but that's about as far as they're happy to go.
Willow isn't eating very much which I think is down to the stress and poor Bracken hasn't moved from the end of the litter tray. I'm syringing water and then holding a little bowl of it for her once she's got the taste for it, and I'm syringing some mashed up/watered down pellets too.

I'm terrified one or both of them is going to end up in stasis :(
