  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

eye problems

If you can see enough in this picture to make it out Brin has had a little spot on the lower lash of his eye since I got him (a month ago). I thought yesterday evening that it looked a little more pronounced and I have just checked it again this morning and I can feel a minute lump which looks a little yellow - its about the size of a rice grain and oblong. I am paranoid about abscesses as the bunny I was supposed to adopt with him died from them and I never even got to bring her home.

I don't know if its just something he has always had and I never noticed it or if something could be wrong.

He let me touch and squeeze it a bit and didn't seem phased.

I'll see if I can get another picture of what it looks like now.

He is due back at the vets in a week for his VHD jab but will take him in on Tuesday if you think this needs checked.

So here is what his eye looked like when I first got him

I cant get the pictures to come up :? It may be a stye or a small cyst but I would still reccomend getting it checked out.

It looks as thogh he had a previous injury which has healed and the thickened area is scar tissue :?
It does look a bit inflammed so I'd definately get a Vet to take a look at it. Sometimes Buns get little pustules in their conjunctiva, so thats another possibility.
Its a bit difficult to get a good view without seeing the eye 'for real' so to speak
