  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

ok well my sisters rabbit being a stupid rabbit(not being nasty he just does stupid things) got my rabbit pregnant
skipping the long story of how he got her (i didint want this to happen)

we marked the day just incase she was pregnant and i have noticed alot of changes in her.
today is the 32nd day (also my birthday :D) and she is doing a small bit of nesting but no fur and the hole is small.

but my problem is that she has gone thin and i mean thin she still looks big and normal but when i feel her sides i can feel her ribs and they really stick out and im really worried about it, and she just lays around doing nothing.
she is hardly eating or drinking and when she can mange to eat its only a few small bits of hay.

my brother told me that it was her getting ready to have the babies but i think its much worse than that she used to be so active and growl at me if i tryed to pick her up but now she dosent care.

we are taking 2 other rabbits to the vet today for their jabs and i was thinking maybe i should take her along. but at the same time thinking she might get stressed by being away if she is ready to give birth.

i really need advice on this asap

How long has she been off her food?
Does often stop eating the day before they give birth.

Has she actually lost weight, ie do you weigh her, or has her body shape just changed?

shes been off her food for a few days i'd say about 3 or 4 but she does eat little bits. she had a nibble of apple a few minutes ago when i checked

but its just she changed alot she just sleeps all the time thats why im worried

I think it would be a good idea to take her to the Vet as to be off her food that long is not 'normal' in late pregnancy
