Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Bunny-allergies?

Can bunnies get dust-allergies?
I'm starting to wonder since I have seen Aroma sneezing...but its only at certain times like when she's freeroaming (sitting next to a large pile of dusty hay) or today when I took her outside and it was windy...
At first I feared she was getting sick, but she seems perfectly healthy otherwise, and as such; she only appears to be sneezing while in extra dusty environments, but I haven't seen any other rabbit react the same way and even her babies are doing fine, they love to play in the hay-pile:lol:
What do you think?

they can unfortunatly. my ridge bunny Honey had a dust allergy she had to be housed on vet bed and blankets and fed dust free hay. it helped alot her sneezing soon stopped =)

xx

Geez, that could get tricky...Aroma can't be kept on vetbed because she loves nothing better than to wee on anything soft. Litter training her has been fruitless. I can probably find some dust-free bedding somewhere though.

yeah i know what you mean hun, i house all my rabbits on vetbed and blankets but only 2 of my rabbits are actually litter trained meaning the vet bed is always soggy with wee and very smelly its washed 4/5 times a week lol why not house her on newspaper and dust free hay? although the newspaper doesnt last long so will need changed daily.
