Nottingham people, vet advise!

I need to change vets and have been told that the ark vet at chilwell is good.
However I work full time and I've just rung to see when Lisette works and its not very often that she is working when I could get there. She only does one saturday in three.
So is there any other good bunny vets I could use that are close by?
Does anyone use Ashfield House in Long Eaton?

I use Oak House vets on Woodborough Road but I see them for my ratties. I don't know how rabbit savvy they are. I like them, but you could call them to see if anyone specialises in exotics.

if you are able to get to Gamston Vets4pets..Annie or Rachel are good with bunnies
and Annie is very good with gps too

I think that is as far away as my current vets which is why I wanted to change, two get sooooo stressed out in the car so wanted as close as possible (I'm in Long Eaton).

I use Ark Chillwell and fortunately Lisette's hours are good for me. I have seen Martin in Lisette's absense at Ark in Long Eaton. I don't know if Lisette practices at ARK Long Eaton when she's not at Chillwell. I know Faye (Cottonmather) has seen Martin too. I won't see the other vet there, Patricia, as I don't think see is very good with buns. She struggled to look in Willow's mouth when I had to take him for an emergency and Lisette wasn't available.

I wouldn't reccomend them for rabbits- pretty dire in fact and very expensive. I second Gamston :thumb:

Yes Ashfield House (long Eaton one but there is one at spondon) is my Vets and has been all my life when it used to be Sargents. (Mr Sargent is still one of the partners). My Parents and friends have always took there dogs and I have always took my bunnies and my cats. I have always found them excellent and the vets I have seen over the years have been so lovely and caring. They are not a cheap practice compared to some and lots of people I know say that they would not go there due to cost BUT I think they are worth the extra and after a bad experience at Dove Vets in Stapleford I would NEVER go anywhere else. check out www.ashvet.co.uk

There is a Vets at the Priory Island (think it is priory vets) on the A52/Derby road which a few friends use and recommend. Cant remember the name - but its next to the A1 car shop.

I am booked in with Martin at Ark LE tomorrow, (when I spoke to the receptionist she told me the three vets just swop between the two practices) I will see how I get on re appointments but if its really not suiting me then I think I'm going to move again to Ashfield House.

I WILL NOT see Patricia ever again (she has just moved from my vets) as she dropped Treacle then left her on the scales as she wondered off to the computer to type in her weight, good job I was there of she'd have been on the floor again, when I first took Meggie she was a little wild and she couldn't do anything with her. Next time I took her there was a gentleman vet who manage to check everything without hurting her (she's a squeaker so I know :lol

Ah well......some are good with certain animals, and not so great with others.

I used to use VPI Proiry Island until my vet Lisette moved to ARK. There was one other bunny savvy vet, Victoria, but she left too. So I moved to ARK. The receptionists were a bit unfriendly there aswell I thought.

John Oleshko at Ashfield House is excellent. I saw him for the last 8 years and he has a very good knowledge of rabbits (I would always see him over the other vets there). He always makes careful assessments and on a couple of occasions has researched further to offer the best treatment for less common conditions. If I still lived in Nottingham I wouldn't use anywhere else! He is very caring and takes time and trouble to do the best for your bun.:wave:

John is lovely I havent seen him with a bun but he is brilliant with cats and he also spends a lot of his time at the practices feline clinic in Bramcote.
When I took our last kitten Riley he made such a fuss of him AND my then 5 year old son who was fascinated by our talk of fleas. John told us to wait in reception and then went to fetch a flea in a glass sample jar and explained to Jude in some length all about them:shock: David knowles also goes that extra mile and takes his time, you never feel he has the clock ticking! last time we saw him we got talking about us going to Edinburgh and he said his parents lived there and would speak to them and ring us to recommend some guest houses. I wasnt expecting it but he rang my OH 2 days later with recommendations. Thankfully we have not had the need to see a vet that often so they dont know us very well at all but they still take the time with you to make a difference and ressure you.

I've had a look on their site and it says John is one of their directors, does that mean he wouldn't be seeing patients as much?
Can you specify which vet you want to see when you book an appointment (obviously if they are working) or is it pot luck when you get there?

John used to split his time between practices anyway so I dont think the Directorship would probably make any difference to his consulting, worth asking though. If it is a new condition or just routine wormers/fleas etc... and also i f I havn't been for a while I just make an appointment to get the earliest one available but if it is a follow up I make sure I get the same vet and ask for them by name. They always say who the appoinment is with anyway so I am sure you can specify who you want.
