Vibes needed for my little man U/D Sadly Joey passed away in the night

Thanks everyone x

Vet just phone, they have done an xray but can't really see anything wrong.
The vet doesn't want to do a GA xray yet because of the risk's, so they are keeping him in and going to try nebulising (sp?) him daily.

My living room feels empty without them

Nebulising Michael certainly helped him. Hope it helps Joey too

Janex :)

Just spoken to the vets again, and after nebulising Joey got worse (the vet assured me this is normal), then after some oxygen he was the same as before.

She thinks it sounds like pasteril (sp?), I'm worried because she doesn't sound to postive, but I think this is just how she speaks.

I'm so worried about him :cry:

Please send get well vibes for my little man

probably means pasteurella : try posting a new thread headed pasteurella and get advice from people who have had buns with it.

I suspect the Vet mentioned Pasteurella?
Did Vet suggest a different antibiotic?

Here are some links with some info about Pasteurella and it's treatment :

Thanks Jane, yes i did mean Pasteurella but was unsure of how to spell it.

The vet is phoning me this morning so I will have a look at the above links and talk to her.

There are quite a few treatment options. Although they may not 'cure' the condition they may reduce Joey's symptoms.

Could the Vet get a view of Joey's heart from the chest Xray?

I didn't ask to be honest, I will today. Just reading the links you posted, should Bug's have treatment as well? She is with him at the vets.

Can this never be 'cured' then? Will he be on antibiotic for life now?

Jane, what if a bunny's only symptoms is his breathing sounds like a "windpipe" but diet and drinking is normal, and is full of energy? Would that still be pasteurella, perhaps a mild case?

Joey has had a very bad day today

The vet tried the nebulising again and he reacted vey badly and had to be on oxygen for the rest of the day. She won't be trying this again

Got a phone call at 5pm to say get here as soon as you can as we don't think Joey will make it through the night. I rushed there and he had improved, he was eating and seemed brighter. So we are hopefull he will make it.

The vet doesn't think its Pasteurella but isn't sure whats wrong. He has had some steriods, and she is going to do a scan of his heart tomorrow.

I'm so so worried, sat with him for over an hour tonight and he picked up a little bit, he sat up and cleaned himself.

Any advice I can have would be great as you can imagine I'm devasted about this

Sorry I don't have any advice, but just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and Joey. I hope they find out what is wrong him, I think it makes it so much harder to cope with when you don't know what your dealing with x
