Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Very loose poos

Hi, yesterday it was my girl Mýsla who got a urinary tract infection, today my girl Mús is having very loose poos, big smelly loose clumps of poo... She is not eating her pellets which she will usually kill for but she is eating hay. I will start her on some science recovery, is there anything else I can do for her?

Thanks:wave:

Hay, hay and more hay...

Could you mush some of her pellets up with a bit of water to make them softer, she may take them this way.

I hope she is better soon.

If it becomes - I can't spell it - diaorhea then take her to the vets asap.

Did she have any new foods in the preceeding 48 hours?

Are the poos unformed caecals or actual diarrhoea?

I would not give her any science recovery as long as she is eating hay. A probiotic added to her drinking water may help balance out her gut flora.
If she's passing unformed caecals I would advise you to get your Vet to check her teeth. Dental probs often cause a Bun to pass sloppy caecals

Hi, no she hasn't had any new foods at all lately, only pellets and hay. The poos are not caecals, but starting to look like actual diarrhoea... I will wait with the recovery, just monitor her hay eating for now then. My other rex girl who got a urinary infection has just stopped eating:cry:
