Bonding queery

caismeister

Alpha Buck
My trio accepted another bun into the group this weekend and all were moved hapoily back into the playhouse. Only one scuffle happened and peace resumed. They were good all night but the new boy is sitting on his own in a litter tray full of straw that i gave him and although the others come and sit with him he is not keen on getting out of the tray. I think he is a little wary of Boomer who is the most dominant female but she does sit with him like the others do. I will keep him in with them for the time being as no fighting but when do you decide if he is not happy being with them? All my other bondings have been successful with the newbies loving being in the playhouse with companions but he is quiet but still eating, drinking etc

It's still VERY early days! My house bunny foursome have been together since early March and are still working out the finer details of their hierarchy and dynamics

I would try putting them into a smaller space together for a while and not put in any litter trays for a while - encouraging the quiet bun to interact with the others. It takes time, but having nowhere to "hide" might help to move things along. x

It sounds like everything is going well so far ... remember, they've all got to suss each other out! Go for a small pen with a big pile of hay and some veg in the middle and let them socialise a bit - everything crossed for you x

they are doing much better now all 4 lying together no chasing at all. I took out their little house so that all 4 have to be together on the floor and it has been good ever since
