  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Advice Needed: Spot/Lump

>Mic<

Young Bun
I was stroking my rabbit last night and found that he had a little lump about 1/2 way down his back in the middle. It feels quite hard however isn't very big (less than the size of a pea I would say). I can't think what it might be however he did have a little accident on wednesday which resulted in him being stuck inbetween the sofa bed & the wall, we did get him out as soon as he got stuck but I was wondering if he might have hurt himself in the struggle.

Any one know what it could be? Im worried sick. He seems to be fine in himself and lets me touch it etc.

Thank you in advance.

It could actually just be his spine, if you feel along his whole back does it feel like there are other smaller little hard lumps in line with this one? There is usually a few prominent ones about where you say it is.
If not, it could well be a little injury so maybe pop him in for a check up with the vet?
If he is due his Myxi or VHD vacc book him in for that to save paying a full consultation fee ;)

I will check.

He just had his vaccs a couple of weeks ago so wont be able to wangle it out of that checkup!

Is the 'lump' near where he was vaccinated? Some Rabbits do get a local reaction which can take weeks to settle. Sometimes the skin actually breaks down and a hard scab forms
