  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Dandruff!

wolfie

New Kit
My little Millie seems to have dandruff, she is black but as a lot of white specs on her back which look like dandruff, they seem to be coming from one small area. When you combe her she loses a lot of fur, any ideas! Also this bunnie lost the use of her back legs last year and we brought her a cart to get round the garden, this was after the vet said she would never recover, well she has been out of her cart for the last month and made her first thump today, so those legs are on the mend, and for all the other disabled rabbits out there, keep fighting! I do believe it is the love we have given her that as made this happen.

Oh im so happy she did so well with the cart and her legs are on the mend!
The dandruff could be mites. Is the one area theyre coming from near the back of the neck? The vets give injections for those and you can buy sprays for use on your buns fur and around the house. One of our rescue girls had them when she came to us and the vets injection cleared them up incredibly well and her fur grew back really thick in weeks
Good luck:wave:
