A giant female bunny - conti or other.
For Nigel.
I have space in my house for 1 more bun, but she has to be special.

Any that are in rescues currently are now safe, and I don't want one that's safe. (what I mean by that is..... I only have room for one, so I want to help as much as I can and make a real difference to a life)
Please keep me in mind if a large female bun is found in desperate need of home. I have this deep seated feeling that a place in my home will be needed by some bun, and it won't be a bog standard rescue/rehome.

I don't know if anyone understands that feeling.....

I kind of know what you mean...I have taken a couple of rabbits in from really bad situations. One via Freecycle was starving, dehydrated and being terrorized by dogs. I doubt she would have survived if she'd have been on a waiting list for a rescue.

I'm not sure if the chances of a needy bunny in your area just happening to be a giant are very high though. :?

You'll find that most people getting rid of their pet probably won't have a clue whether it's a giant or dwarf, or even male or female.

The other way to look at it, is to take a bunny from a rescue (even ask for one that is more difficult to re-home) and by doing so you are freeing up space for another bun to become safe by coming into that rescue.

I would think "giant buns" may be tricky for even rescues to rehome? I say this as they obviously need lots of space and such...:?

Adopting ffrom a rescue means saving two rabbits, the one you adopt and the one lucky enough to take its place :)

I have to agree with Sooz:D, you are still doing helping a rabbit that as come from god knows what situation, just the difference being that any health issues have already been dealt with. You really would be doing your bit if you adopted from a rescue as the size of a hutch a giant takes up could in fact mean that rescue could help a few others.

I would always recommend going to a rescue not trying to save a bun yourself. With a bun you take from free ads, for example, you don't know what medical problems they may have - can you afford several hundred ponds of emergency vet care? There's the possibility of temperament issues, contagious infections etc. etc.

When you go to rescue you are still saving a rabbit before when you adopt you free up a space for the rescue, who are experienced and have the proper facilities, to go and save the rabbit in need.
