  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I know that rabbits are quite delicate, so imagine my panic when at the vets getting his myxi booster today Dougal went mad, scrambled up my chest, over my shoulder and flew off into the air, landing on the floor on the other side of the room!:shock::shock:
I imagined broken arms, legs, ribs, everything - but he seemed to be undamaged.
Since then he's eaten, drunk, wee'd and stamped his feet really hard lots of times. It's only been around an hour though, so I can't help worrying that he might feel the effects later.

Has anyone had this experience before? The other 2 were real angels, then he had to show me up and managed to rip my hand open with his claws in the process!

happened to me once - me an experienced bun owner and my vet a really really experienced rabbit vet - said rabbit (Sweet Pea a little dutch/nethie cross) was meant to be feeling a bit poorly still and was in for a re-check - suddenly went mad - jumped onto my shoulder , over my shoulder, into the wall, and slid down to the floor.

He shook himself and recovered and stamped - and all was well. Except LOTS of embaressment on myself and vet!!!
