Willis - Giant Rabbit

Willis is a male Albino Flemish Giant. He is 5 years old.

He is a BIG bunny, and is described by his owner as loving people and other animals, and as 'naughty'! He knows his name and will come when called.

His current vaccination and neutering status is unclear (I am trying to determine this at the moment). He will need neutering if not already done, and vaccinating twice a year for myxo and annually for VHD. He is in good health!

Because of his size, Willis will need a large area to live in. The ideal set-up would be as a house rabbit, however a very large shed and run or a kennel set-up may be an alternative. As he is clearly very intelligent, he will need lots of stimulation in the form of toys and an interesting environment. We would like him to live with a bunny friend.

He is located in the south east (Reading area) but a bunny run could be organised if the ideal home came forward.

Willis's owner is heartbroken at having to give him up. Tragically, she has recently found out that her husband has terminal cancer, and given birth to a premature baby. The family clearly love Willis very much but their circumstances at the moment mean that they have to give him up.

Reading RSPCA Rabbits don't have the facilities to house a rabbit of Willis' size, and there is nowhere else in the area able to take him. His owners are desperate to get him into a loving home as soon as possible.

Please PM me if you think you can offer Willis the loving home that he deserves, or if you have any questions.

**PLEASE BE AWARE that Giant rabbits have special needs, and are very expensive in terms of food, bedding and veterinary bills because of their size and some of the medical problems that they can have. There is more information here http://www.rabbitrehome.org.uk/care/giantrabbits.asp **

Hiya

I'd love to be considered as a new home for Willis. You might have seen that I've been looking for a new husbun for Honey since Jasper died, if however bonding did not work out then I'd still be prepared to keep Willis and would get an alternative friend for him.

That's fanbtastic news about his new home with Gemma!!!:D

Those poor people.....it sounds like they are having a VERY rough time of things at the moment. I hope that knowing that their beloved bun will have a lovely new home to go to will be one less thing to weigh on their minds.:(

Congratulations Gemma, can't wait to meet him - fingers crossed Honey likes him and if not we'll be bunny hunting for another one lol!!!!"

Thanks everyone :D. I've been keeping my eyes open for a big bun since we first tried to bond Honey a few weeks ago, I've got my fingers crossed that this all goes ahead ok. If it does and anyone can help with a bunnyrun from Reading to the midlands then I can collect from there as I visit family in Warwickshire fairly regularly.

Well I visit Nottm to see my folks, but he might need a foster home for a few weeks as we don't come that often, probably every 6-8 weeks now. Next time in a couple of weeks time..

Woo hoo! All systems are go.

Please PM me if you are able to offer transport help from Reading to Lancashire, and dates that you are available.

I can get him as far as Birmingham on Sat April 26th, but I am hoping we can get him to his new home sooner than that!

I'll be going from Reading - Nottingham either next weekend (6th), or the one after (13th)... he can stay here until you next come down to Notts... :)
I'll find out a date and let you know...
