Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fleas!!!!

Yuk I found a flea on one of the babies!!! i got it and drowned it!!! (the flea, not the baby!!!!)

I have the ivermectin drops for the back of their neck (always keep a good stock!)

My question is can i treat the babies, they are 5 weeks old now and weigh...

***rushes off to weigh a baby bun***

413g (that was Peanut!)

Not found any more fleas but want to treat all the buns anyway...

xxxx

No idea.Does it say on the back of the packet.?If not maybe ring and ask your vet.
:shock:Glad it was the flea you drowned:lol::lol::lol:

I thought ivermectin was only suitable for mites and is not effective with fleas? You are right to treat them all, they will all be guaranteed to have them! they may not be house buns but I would treat the house too and any other pets. :)

Are you sure it wasn't just one flea? Can you see flea poo? I don't know what colour your buns are but flea poo is little black banana shaped specs, my two have had fleas and I've really clearly been able to see the flea poo, another time I found a flea on Charlie but no poo, I didn't treat him and I didn't see any more fleas.

Charlie has had fleas twice, I used Advantage which has imidocloprid in not ivermectin.
