Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Rabbits sneezing is it normal?

Some of my rabbits have sneezed a few times and i've read that it means something bad. However all they have done is at most a few sneezes and that's it. If it is bad, what do i have to look out for? Apart from just sneezing nothing else has been out of the norm.

A sneezing rabbit could possibly be showing symptoms of snuffles.

The first thing I would check for is any discharge from the nose or if the inside of the front legs are wet which they use to clean their faces. The other main thing i would check is if they have "runny" or "weepy" eyes.

Another possible problem will be issues with teeth as this can also cause the above symptoms.

To be on the safe side I would pop along to the vets and have them checked over. Snuffles can be treated if caught early but unfortunately cannot be cured.

Hope this helps.

No, they have never had weepy eyes. I have not seen anything come out of thier noses or any wet on thier feet. They seem fine, i was just worried coz i've read there could be a problem and i'd rather catch it early. Could thier hay have caused them to sneeze? Or possibly thier fur? They are double maned lionheads and recently went through moulting. They do get brushed regularly.
