unfortunately quite a few have not come back from the vet as they had horrendous absesses in their mouths and the worst back teeth the vet has seen in a rabbit for quite a while, one the teeth had grown through its tongue
I am appalled that these were still being bred from

Is Bandit one of these buns that needs a bit of tlc ?
I have taken on a grunty nervous slightly demented rabbit before as a foster, she had been in terrible circumstances too. With time and love she came around, and is now a wonderful permanent member of my house rabbit family.
Although I have no room here, I heartily recommend to anyone taking on a "special needs" rabbit like these as it is so rewarding when they make progress.
Please find room in your heart (and your house!) for one of the poor little mites!

my bif was a bun with need for tlc and time..within 6 months shed improved soo much shed butt my foot for a nose rub...look over my knees to say hi..would sleep on the floor next to whilst i lay there with my bad back...so shy but getting so affectionate...until her husbun died..then it fell apart.
I have had her 2 years on the 27th from a rescue and ive had to deal with her stress isssues etc and sometimes shell go for me and other times shell ask me thru the bars for a nose rub stroke etc. Shes very nervy again right now since unbonding from the group we have..but her and bandit are side by side now and each evening they run around whilst i clean them out..theyre both terified of open spaces...but im dealing with that slowly...
the affection a bun like that can show is very special..a sniff..a lick..a plea for a stroke or nose rub..begging for greens....its so special to share and knowing what may have been and the sadness in their eyes..theyre worth every moment. they wont be the affectionate nutter out the group..unlike bertie n bandit.....but she tops even willow now.......
go on...shy buns need to learn to be loved buns..rewards are a bunny smileor a nose twitch at the right time..and a lick of your hand ior wrist..or being able to stroke there heads whilst they go to sleep in their spot intheir cage run etc.
i hope they find that kindness soon.

This is Bongo, one of the rabbits in the first post, who we are fostering for Elaine. These pictures are from today, testing out our new foldaway run. I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly she came out of the carrier to explore the run.
When we first picked her up she hid away in the sleeping compartment but she is slowly coming round and is now spending more time in the open part of the hutch. She still runs off to hide if you get too close but I’m sure this will stop in time as her confidence increases. She will cautiously approach when I sit talking to her but then backs off, but at least it’s a start.
I’m sure she will be fine in a permanent home with a patient and understanding carer.
