Joe has been up to feed everyone this morning and Bailey just sat at the back of his hutch. He even turned his back on Joe. Bailey is normally bouncing around when he hears any one of us. I went up to the shed and Bailey turned his back on me. Whilst he ate his veg last night, his food put down about 15 mins before I went up, looked untouched. Bailey normally throws his food bowl at us if we don't feed him as quickly as he would like!! I have phoned the vets and am taking him at 9.50 this morning.u/d

Hiya Just wanted to reiterate what Phil said really - ALL ours got myxi (nodular type) last year & ALL survived (ALL vaccinated as yours are)
Our vet said at the time that he had NEVER lost one that had been vaccinated
Our vet prescribed baytril, (duphapen injections daily for the severest cases )& fucithalmic eye drops. Some of the rabbits looked dreadful but ALL survived - & by looking at them - you would never guess they were so ill !!!
Please keep your chin up - they will get better :D

He has had a little carrot to eat and I have seen him drinking. I think he is trying to rest, but I keep disturbing him! Oh well, I have to keep popping in to see he is ok. My kids will be distraught when they get in from school. We lost Teapot to myxi a few years ago. We now vaccinate twice yearly as are classed as high risk. He is a big boy (in my siggie with no ears), so am keeping everything crossed.

So sorry to hear about poor bailey :( There's a good chance he'll make a full recovery, but it's still an anxious time - Hugo recovered from nodular myxi at the end of last year and i still worry about him.Good luck, i hope Bailey is feeling better soon

 Although it's difficult try to keep positive. He's up to date with his vaccinations so there's no reason why he shouldn't pull through. As you probably know, Floss has been through this twice and made a full recovery apart from a bit of damage to both eyes. Thinking of you and sending every sort of vibe known to rabbitkind:)

like others on the forum I have had a bun live through myxi.
He had had his jab just over a year before and was booked in the next day for his next jab when he came down with it (before we knew it had to be every 6 months).
We had him in antibiotics and also eye drops and then metacam as well when the scabs formed . As they did not have fleas (he must have got it from a mozzie) we kept him with his sister all the way through and she was vital in keeping him happy and his eyes clear (ok - she used to lick the eye ointment off!!!) and his spirits up. She didn't get it.
He ate all the way through - although apparently they always do unless it turns to pneumonia.
He turned the corner after about 8 days of intensive nursing at home and by 3 weeks was so bored and fed up we had to let him back out in his run!
We were told to keep the temperature of the room up as it is key in helping - we bought a themometer and also a juicer to juice tempting food and liquids - but I guess you know about all that.
I also know of several others at my vets that have survived this.
Good Luck!!! (you'll be having a lot of sleepless nights!)

Wow, what a lot of vibes. I will pass them onto Bailey.
He seemed a bit livelier this morning and even went to hop over to Archie (cat) when he saw him. I think it was a bit much for him though and he is now flopped out in a big cardboard box which Rich bought home last night from work.
He had eaten his tea last night and during the night has eaten some pellets.
He is drinking and def weeing and pooing.
Am keeping everything crossed.
Glad he is still fighting:D

hi there sorry to hear baily is unwell...but on the plus side like others on here our 10year old bun chelsea came down with it last year, she too caught it from a mozzie and was vaccs. but she pulled through for first week or 2 they are very up and down and it is a fight for them then they seem to turn a corner and pick up slowly with a relapse then they gradually improve. chelsea ended up with 31 lumps on her and had a weeping eye wich due to scar tissue has to be bathed now every day even though she is better (we are considering trying to bond her again to ease the stress of this) some rabbits seem to get breathing problems with the myxi too and some albus oil on a rag in their cage or room seems to help tho we did not get this with chelsea. keep them eating whatever as it is important. also ensure they can access water easily (ie put a water bowl as well as bottle) keep them warm as this seems to help
chelsea was on baytril, metacam and eye drops she took 5 months to recover but many buns recover much quicker. good luck and vibes from me, mum chelsea snowy and dora.

Gosh that is shocking, I didn't know they could catch it if they were vaccinated. Hope he pulls through. Many people seem to have had the same experience and seem to have their buns pull through. Vibes to you all. xx
