Accommodation needs to be secure against predators, escape and intruders.

Sheds and outdoor buildings should be fitted with smoke alarms. Your local fire station will have a fire safety officer that can advise you on type and placement.

Any electrics should be fitted or checked by a qualified electrician.

Large numbers of rabbits maybe particularly tempting to predators such as foxes.

Enclosures should have a secure lid and, if on grass, something to stop a fox digging in or a rabbit digging out. Rabbits should never be left to free range unattended - even for a few minutes whilst you grab something for indoors.

Mesh should be no more than 25mm (1 inch) square and weld mesh should be used in preference to chicken wire. Mesh should be firmly stapled to the frame.

Hutches should be fitted with bolts, not just thumb twists, so they cannot become lose or be knocked open by scratching predators.

Enclosures should be checked for damage regularly and repaired as necessary.
