Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Advice Please - Bunny with a poorly leg!

Hey everyone,

I got home this evening and let Lene out of her cage and she is limping, holding her back left leg off the floor as she hops. I've had a look at it and it didn't seem to cause her any pain when I did. She's hopping around the lounge as normal right now. Do you think she could have sprained it or something? She does charge around her house quite a lot!

What do you advise?

Personally, I would take her to the vet tomorrow, rabbits are very good at hiding pain and she may have caused herself an injury somewhere.

I am still treating one of my rabbits, Inky, for an injury he sustained in December on one of his front legs (if you search for the threads, I've written about 5). He is currently on Metacam and at the moment, his limp has stopped because we have been keeping him, and his leg, as warm as possible in this cold weather.

Lots of non-limping vibes

She's going to the vets on Thursday afternoon for her jabs anyway, do you think it would be ok to wait until then? She's racing around the living room right now.

If not I'll call them tomorrow. She's indoors so no probs keeping her warm.

I would take her to the vets to be on the safe side, she may be in pain. She hasnt had a vhd jab recently has she?

The jab may have to wait, the leg has to be look after first. My bunny had a similar episode, she broke the leg at the knee joint (Bone cancer) but she hides the injury from me. Only took me a minute to discover and went to the vet

Ok I'm really worried now! Is there any chance it could just be a simple sprain? She's definitely going to the vets, even if she can't have the jab, I really hope she's ok
