Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Myxi Vaccination - when?

Now that it's March and myxi vaccination time, should I book Bell and T in now or wait a few more weeks so that the vaccination stays at its strongest for longer into the summer?

Get it done now then the 6month booster in the summer - there are cases of myxi around now so better to be safe than sorry. There are vets doing a promotion giving you the booster in the summer free if you get the first one done before 31st March - worth looking into. :D

Just a question, if you get a booster done in March, there isn't six months until the summer. Does this matter? My girls myxi vacc is due in the middle of March and then again in Sept/Oct.

I am in the same boat..

that website is great, but your rabbit has to have not been vaccinated for 9 months for you to qualify, so its aimed at those inividuals who do not vaccinate 6 months for myxi.

No good for my two either then, but a great way to encourage six monthly vaccinations.

Bella was done at the end of August and T in September so they'll be off to the vet this week.

I was getting all excited about that offer as I have four to vaccinate, but then I read about the 9 month gap which won't apply. My vet is one that participates - perhaps i will be a bit cheeky and ask about it anyway as they have an appointment next saturday for their jabs!!

Great way of promoting regular vacs though.

When you fill the form in it doesn't ask when they were last vaccinated. Mine were last done in April last year, but I notice that the voucher offers a free top up vaccination in September - and 50p off a tube of Panacur
