not sure what to do

ive just found my house rabbit in the kitchen behind the washing machine, she had tipped out a box of rat posion ( hasnt got a name but small blue pellets) but as i didnt put it down i dont know how much was in their and if she has eaten any.
she is going to the vets tomoaro morning for her final spray check up, and i have spoken to an emergany vet tonight who told me to watch her over night. is there any thing else i can do until the morning?
thanks one very worried rabbit mummy

omg i hope shes ok i would be in total panic rite now
i would say give her some tosted brown bread to soke it up if she did eat any or just lots of hay and water good luck and i hope shes ok

 Hope your bun will be okay. Guess you will just have to keep a really close eye all night. I'm sure someone else will come along soon who will be able to offer better advice than me.

Have you tried looking in her mouth to see if there is any blue in there? I don't know whether it would have been attractive to rabbits as its made to attract rats to eating it. So with any luck she wouldn't have eaten any. I'm think of you and your bun.

i have looked in her mouth, i cant see any thing in their shes still running about in the hall now, and nibbling at hay. the vet was concerned because she said they have faster metabolisms, but said they cant do a blood test until 48 hours after

I don't think there is much that can be done other than keeping a close eye on her. At least you know what it is she may have eaten. When my family dog was poisoned we didn't know what it was so the vets didn't know how to best treat it. They were fantastic and although it was touch and go for a few days she made it.

I guess it will be a long night for you. I have my fingers crossed everything will be ok.

Oh my!! I can only suggest ensuring that she eats plenty of hay and keeping an eye on her. If she is showing signs of discomfort I'd phone the vet again.

IMMEDIATELY NOW (never mind that its late) ring a pest control agency. They will be able to tell you what they generally put in that type of rat bait - AND will be able to tell you what the antidote is.

If it is inside the house it is probable it is actually mouse bait.

Ring ANY pest control agency (they are in the yellow pages) and they will know. It does not matter that they are not the ones that left it. If the first ones you ring won't help then ring another.

There ARE antidotes but you need to do it NOW. Rabbits have very fast metabolisms. Poison IS poisonous.

(sorry if this scares you but I know this is important because I have discussed this possible scenario in the past with a pest control person when wondering what I to do about the rats that tried to set up home around my hutch areas. The answer is to only use the non removable bait by the way: with huge apologies to rat keepers and lovers).

thanks every one
just to let every one know autumn has seen the vets and at the moment is fine, i just need to keep a close eye on her over the weekend as a precution. the vet spoke to a rabbit specialist and said rabbits are not inclined to eat posion and hes never had a case of it.

Thats good news. I hope everything goes well over the weekend. Be sure to let us know. I'll be thinking of autumn (lovely name by the way) xx
