Just a question, it something I do but not sure if everyone does. When either one of my bonded pair go to the vets I always take both, even if its only one of them thats poorly.

In my old vets they thought this was some sort of revelation (obviously not many experienced bunny mummys there!!) and they noticed that Miffy (its always Miffy and not Snuffy!) came round from his anasthetic much much faster and was more encouraged to eat. ALSO they are less likely to fight as bunnys coming back from a vets that smell all strange may cause fights to the bunnys that have been left at home.

I just wondered if there was anyone out there with a poorly bunny at the vets who is perhaps worried that their bunny is not recuperating fast enough, to try and bring his friend in with him, it really does help.

I am really sorry I am teaching you all to suck eggs, but I thought I would suggest it just in case there are afew new bunny mummys out there!

Take care all, and bless all of your fluffy friends. x :bunny:

I absolutely always take a bonded pair together, anywhere. Lupin has accompanied his wifeybun Dixie in for her spey today.

It was harder when I had a trio and had to carry all three to the vets together though :D

However, my vets dont put them back together until the bunny having a GA/sedation has come round again.

i do but it annoys my vet.

zola is a wimp so hides behind wispa and refuses to get out the carrier!!!

I don't, I can't see the point of stressing both bunnies out and they never fight because one may smell a little different. All my bonded pairs have their vaccinations at the same time so that is the only time they go together.

I have to say my bunnies never seem to exhibit signs of stress upon arriving home from the vets.

I think its possibly more stressful for them to be wondering where their partner has gone. :)

i do, a vet i used to go to said if i brought an extra bun who wasnt seeing the vet, i would still have to pay an extra consultation fee, which disgusted me as they told me AFTER id brought two buns in. so i said 'well then i want to go back in there and have a healthcheck cus im only paying 4 a consultation if i get one' so they charged me for the one 'this time'

i changed vets!!

I take mine together, the vets spoil them with nice fresh veg when they the other was being neutered so i know they are looked after :)

I've tried it both ways. My bunnies get incredibly stressed going to the vets together - they are both in the same carrier, but they take hours to recover when they get home (and they are incredibly fragile, so I hate taking them). I just don't know how to make the experience less stressful for them. :(

If it's an emergency where one isn't pooing etc, I only take that one, so they can monitor them properly. Especially since they look so alike - would hate the vet to get them muddled up.

the partner that is left behind when I take the other one to the vets never show signs of stress (think it must be cos they are in their own enviroment probably glad of a bit of peace:lol:) at their partner leaving them for a short time and when the other comes back it is so nice to see them both snuggle into each other and groom each other as if they are saying that they have missed each other:D

We didn't. The only time they went to the vet together was when they got matching deplummings.

I always do! My vet suggests it and comments on how one bun calms the other one when they can see each other and be near each other.

I've tried not taking them together once when Faline was poorly. When she came back Molly chased her a bit which was not very good as she was already ill. So from then on I take them together.

Never - unless both need treatment.

Both are horridly stressed when they go together. However, only one rabbit gets stressed if I only take one rabbit. They are fine together on return.

I don't always, it is very much dependent on what they are going for.

If it is a problem they are both suffering with or I am having one vaccinated (mine are at different times) and I think the other could do with claws clipping or a check up, I take both.

Generally though, I take them individually, they both hate the vets and they really don't seem to be less stressed when they go together. I have no problems rebonding them afterwards.

I did ponder taking them both the other day when I had Inky X rayed for the vets appointment beforehand, I wondered if Smokey would encourage him to hop and show off his limp more clearly. I decided against it becasue I thought they would be really upset if I separated them in the vets surgery.

I think you have to do what works for your own buns really.

im the same. i used to take them together but they both get so scared (charlie especially who just lies down panting looking terrified).

im usually in and out quickly and i always talk to the lone but and stroke him/her so at least I'M familiar but i dont like to stress out two when they're perfectly alright alone.
