I can understand that a buck may still be fertile for upto 6 weeks after castration but would a castrated buck still actually mate if with an unspayed doe?

If that is the case when would the mating urge stop or doesn't it............

Am a little confused on this one so any thoughts would be appreciated!

until the hormones die down a buck will try and mate with a spayed female. remember that they hump EVERYTHING so the fact she isnt sexually interesting doesnt matter to him!!!

if she has hormones shes all the more attractive to him!!!!

i think zolas hormones died down after about 2 weeks but he was still risky to unspayed females

The mounting isn't always a mating urge though, its also done to establish dominance so it can be hard to distinguish the motivating factor in a neutered buck.

Also, at certain times of the year, males (and females to some extent) can exhibit hormonal behaviour displayed by intact rabbits.

Mainly it seems to depend on the age of neutering and also the individual rabbits personality.

So, and I am not sure how to put this delicately  would a castrated male actually have sex?

I am not a bunny pervo BTW!

I believe so but they dont appear to be able to ejaculate. At least, they dont go through the 'motions' of having done so

I have a male foster Romeo He was neutered 5 weeks ago. He will hump everything in site . he shows no signs of slowing down.

He has been bonded with a large tennis ball at the mo. we are waiting for him to calm down before we introduce him to a girl.

He isnt fussy either it doesn't need a pulse! he will often attach himself to my boot, my arm even the broom has had a liason with him!

His brother Grumpy nuts is the opposite so i suppose it depends on the bunnie

 Oh dear. I have no experience with humping male bunnies. Molly has never humped anything at all and he was over a year old when he was neutered. All the outside buns were neutered before living with me and I've never seen them dominance hump either. :?
