A BunnyMummy Modern Fairy Tale (which Beatrix Potter Forgot to Write!)

Wise Old Thumper
Once upon a time there were four house bunnies, called Teasal, Robinia, Parsley and Peaches. They had lots of outside bunny friends, but somehow these four had sneaked their way into bunnymummy's home and spent their evenings lazing in front of the fire, playing with bunnymummys books and computer wires, and breaking into the larder. Teasal and Parsley didn't really like each other very much (as bunny's sometimes don't) and so Parsley and Peaches had one part of the house and Teasal and Robinia had the other half.

One day when bunnymummy was very busy earning money to pay for all the vets bills and the hay, she realised she had someone quite important coming to see her the next day. And so she had to stop being very busy earning money and be very busy cleaning the house. She took Parsley and Peaches to play in the garden with their outdoor freinds, and asked Teasal and Robinia to try and play on the patio for the day – though she knew they would still be able to get into the house if they wanted.

Bunnymummy then hoovered up all the poos, and washed all the floors, and put all the mats in the laundry, and then she hovered up more poos and some bits of straw, and just as she thought she was finished she found some more poos upstairs!. This took bunny mummy ALL day! She started at 8.00am and didn’t finish until 5pm!

But when bunnymummy sat down to have a nice cup of tea what should she see but a great big round shiny poo in the centre of the dining room – which was the first room she had cleaned. Bunnymummy was very very p*****d off and said lots of things to Teasal and Robinia which are not really the sort of things you say in fairy tales normally.

Teasal and Robinia looked up at bunnymummy with great big round eyes and said to her ‘But when we came back in the house today there were no poos at all. And we remembered that when Willow, our outdoor bunny friend, was very very ill and could not poo, you said that you desperately wanted to see bunny poo, and that you were praying for poos, and that you had asked all of your friends on Rabbit United to pray for some bunny poo as well. And when Willow started to poo again you said that bunny poos were little miracles. So when we saw you were working so hard today but someone had taken all the poos away, we thought we would give you a little miracle.

And bunnymummy smiled, and thought that maybe bunny poos were all little miracles after all and maybe she didn’t have to hoover ALL of them up, but could leave one or two just to remind her how precious they were. And she went and fetched Parsley and Peaches from the garden and they gave her some little miracles too. And they all lived happily ever after . . . and the important person phoned to say they weren’t coming anyway!
